I just went through the schedule for StokerCon and marked all the panels/readings I want to attend. I wish there were three of me so I could go to everything. I’m having the damndest time choosing between a few panels/readings that are happening simultaneously. I’ll probably end up playing it by ear while I’m there and deciding right before things start.

I’m also chuffed to be taking a couple classes through Horror University; Bringing Cosmic Horror Down to Earth with James Chambers and Write Your Trauma: Harness Your Darkness to Create Compelling Work with Mercedes Yardley. I’m a big fan of cosmic horror and a lot of my work leans in that direction, and I’m super fucked up so I have a lot to gain from harnessing my darkness. LOL. I also have a ton of respect for both of these authors, so I am looking forward to learning from them.

I’m a bit nervous about the travel. I’ve done a lot of traveling over the years, but it’s been several since I did it alone. The idea of navigating airports, shuttles, and trolleys is a bit daunting, but I suppose if I didn’t get lost on the London Underground, I’ll be okay.

I’ve written two new stories this last month, and I’m proud of both. I think my work has come a long way these last couple of years. At this point, I feel confident that most of the stories I write will be published. My latest story, Stale Exhalations, is an attempt at creating a mental plague. A brain worm if you will. I’ve never read a story quite like it and I’m excited to see how it’s received.

I only have three stories out on submission right now, so for the next week or so, I am going to polish several I have sitting in a folder and send them to editors.

Other than that, not a whole lot going on, so I will keep this short.  I’ll be sure to do a full write-up on StokerCon when I get back. And I have a new story coming out next month that I can’t yet announce. Stay tuned.

Are you going to StokerCon? If so shoot me a message! I’d love to meet up with you.

Currently reading: Kiss Me, Judas by Christopher William Baer, The Orchard of the Dead by Stefan Grabinski, The Year’s Best Dark Fantasy and Horror edited by Paula Guran, and Characters & Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card. I’m also trying to read all the new stories that come out in Apex Magazine and The Dark Magazine, as these are markets I’d like to break into.
